Understanding Letter Bending Machine Calibration

The machine used in this project was the VAM-S6 Plus letter bending machine by Varisigns from China. This advanced machine is equipped with a planner for stainless steel and a milling cutter specifically designed for plain aluminum and aluminum edge letters. It features a swing milling cutter that performs rear cutting, providing versatility and efficiency.

There is a significant difference between using a planner and a cutter for aluminum processing. While a planner may produce a rough finish on aluminum surfaces, using a cutter with multiple tips yields a much smoother and higher-quality result.

To achieve optimal results, it is crucial to always use a cutter for aluminum profiles and edge letters, as this significantly enhances the quality of the finished product.

Purpose of User Customization

The primary objective was to create edge letters using the VAM-S6 Plus machine. The raw materials for making these edge letters arrive in six-meter rolls, designed to be paired with 3mm acrylic on top and a 10mm base.

This approach not only results in more affordable 3D letters for customers but also eliminates the need for welding and post-processing, leading to a more efficient operation.

Through the use of these edge letters, and by employing a simple CO2 CNC machine, it is possible to manufacture small to medium-sized 3D letters by gluing parts together, showcasing the versatility of the process.

One crucial setting in the calibration process is the “cutter front home offset.” Initially set to around 5 degrees, this created problems in achieving square corners due to negative limits. The ideal setting for this parameter should be around 30 degrees. The accurate adjustment requires disconnecting the swing shaft and rotating it to observe the home switch at approximately 30 degrees. At zero degrees, the swing cutter should be directed towards you.
