Introduction

Wheel repair CNC idea

It is a special lathe for repairing the car aluminium wheel surface scratch. The surface curve of the wheel hub is detected by the high precision touch probe, use a diamond cutter to cut and repair the wheel surface.

PC wheel repair machine can optimise the curve directly and improve the machining quality of the wheel surface, without the need of another computer to make a special optimisation, can save a lot of work time. PC wheel repair machines are much easier to operate than CNC wheel repair machines and Do not need professional knowledge of the CNC.

Don’t need to understand the complex programming process. It is convenient to operate by touch screen and equipped with a wireless keyboard & mouse to meet the different operating habits.

This machine uses two tools, one diamond cutting wheel and one precision probe to scan wheel curve. The machine instruction for use can be viewed here

Curve optimisation

When the detection is finished normally, the system will switch to the curve optimisation interface automatically and open the current detection curve.

Click the “Operation” in the top left corner and click “Filtering” to optimise. Click “Operation” again and click “Point Range” to select the point.
From the starting point, choose node by double clicking on it, before bending and after bending, and input appropriate value in the pop-up window .the whole curve will be divided into several sections.

Input smaller value for a segment with a large change,for example input 2. Input bigger values for a segment where the change is gentle or regular,for example 15. The larger the input value , the better the optimisation result . If the selected value is too large or change in segment is too small, the resulting green curve deviates from the original red curve.

After points are selected, click on the “Operation” and click “Interpolate” to perform the optimisation. After optimisation, the resulting green curve and the original red curve should be basically the same or a small deviation.If the deviation is big, click“Operation”and click “clear”. Then click “File”and click “Open”re-open the detection process, re-optimisation. After finishing the optimisation, click “Output Any Where” in the “File” to save. After saving successfully, the message will show. Click “OK” to complete the optimisation.

Wheel repair CNC cutting process

As per my personal experience, better to put machine in step mode and control it manual, also start 1 mm away from the wheel at the start and gradually in 0.2 mm steps increase in Z direction.

To do that, in the cutting section, “Processing parameter table”, second box, “Single Cutting depth” for the first cut put 1.00. It would stay away 1 mm from the wheel for the first cut. For the next processes -0.2 can be entered to get closer gradually to the final result.
